Effect of stretching Application in Golf Drive swing(ROM, driving Distance, Head Speed, Shot Efficiency)

Abstract

|
Objective : The purposes of this study are compare the differences of golf skill improvement change factor(driving distance, head speed, shot efficiency) and flexibility change factor(range of motion, ROM) after 5 minutes(short) and 30 minutes(long) stretching.
Method: Subjects were consisted with 20 professionals in Korean Professional Golf Association, 22 amateurs, and 16 beginners which were total of 58 players. Inclinometer was used on ROM measurement and Distance Caddy was used for diving distance, head speed, shot efficiency.
Result: Beginners showed a wider range of shoulder rotation where as professionals had a higher trunk rotation from spine. During golf swing with driver, average driving distance of all was increased 6.2 m after 5 minute stretching and went up 12.2 m after 30 minute stretching.
Conclusion: Short and long stretching which were focused in target muscles of golf swing were effective for increasing the golf swing performance.
